Merry Christmas from our wild family!

Can you believe Christmas is only a whisker away?

The year is almost over and we’d like to say a huge thank you to our incredible wild family for helping us connect more people than ever before to nature and continue to save species from extinction.

We’d like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and can’t wait to welcome you through our gates next year.

At work? Can’t turn the volume up? Never fear – a transcript of our Christmas poem is below:

As the New Year approaches and the one we’re in ends,
We’d like to say thank you, dear supporters and friends.

For helping us do the vital work that we need,
To save threatened species, both here and overseas.

You’ve helped us connect people, from near and from far,
To our gorgeous animals, from tapirs to galahs.

We welcomed new arrivals to our wild family,
That melted our hearts, filled visitors with glee.

From devils to blackbuck and two new giraffe,
A zebra foal, two tigers, and a cute oryx calf.

Fifteen gorgeous meerkats, not full-sized but just pups,
A koala pair, some wombats, and four Cheetah cubs.

We gave you Lions 360 and never could guess,
How much you’d all love it. It’s a roaring success.

Thirteen thousand people took the walk of the brave.
Oh, the knowledge we’ve spread! And the lions we’ve saved!

But don’t just take our word for it, people can’t be ignored.
We were thrilled to have received: accreditations, awards.

Major Tourist Attraction, accessibility and more,
We couldn’t have done it without your support.

But our incredible work doesn’t stop at our gates.
We also saved species, from here to the States.

We’ve saved lizards and birds, put them back in the wild.
Told people about them, every man, woman, child.

And in special memory of an Orangutan named Karta,
We quickly raised funds to send to Sumatra.

You helped us raise dollars, thirty thousand, no less,
To protect island forests where Karta’s spirit will rest.

And then there are rhinos, who are poached for their horns.
Sadly, more are dying than those who are born.

So, we came up with an ambitious new plan,
To bring them to Australia, as many as we can.

We’re relocating thirty to Monarto – thanks to you!
And building a centre that will be used to,
Keep them healthy and happy, comfortable and fed,
Securing the species for the future ahead.

So thank you, we appreciate it,
And want you to know,
Every time you support us our seeds of hope grow.

So from us… Merry Christmas!
And a happy New Year!
Let’s keeping working together so species don’t disappear.
