To celebrate World Lion Day, we’re roaring with excitement to announce more than 10,000 thrill seekers have taken the walk of the brave at Lions 360.

After nine months of operation, Lions 360 fed to you by ElectraNet has become a must-do adrenaline and educational experience for visitors all over the globe.

Monarto Zoo Director Peter Clark said the popularity of the experience has educated thousands of people about the plight of African Lions in the wild.

“It’s really special we’ve been able to exceed the 10,000 milestone on World Lion Day; we’re just so excited we’ve been able to teach so many people about lion conservation,” Peter said.

“Guaranteed to leave you in even more awe than when you entered, our innovative Lions 360 experience sees visitors walk through a tunnel and emerge in the habitat within a clawing range of one of Australia’s largest African Lion prides.

“Inspired by Rodney Fox’s immersive shark cage diving, Lions 360 challenges visitors’ nerve as they enter a cage surrounded by up to nine African Lions.

“Visitors feel their hearts pound and the hairs on their neck stand on end as they fight every instinct to turn and run the other way.

“While the lions are the true stars of the show, it’s an education experience with our keepers and tour hosts engaging the public about the plight of lions in the wild,” Peter said.

Sadly, African Lion populations are decreasing, with an estimated 25,000-30,000 thought to be remaining in the wild.

“With the wild population decreasing, we’re working hard to ensure this majestic species stays a pounce ahead and remains for generations to come.

“Every person who takes the walk of the brave is directly contributing to lion conservation programs.

“This includes programs like the 333,000 hectare Sera Conservancy in Northern Kenya, where we support 36 rangers protecting lions and other African species from hunting and poaching.”

Lions 360 sales also raise valuable funds to safeguard lions in their native Zambia through our partnership with Painted Dog Conservation Inc, which supports the Zambian Carnivore Program and ensures conservation of large carnivore species prey and habitat.
