Get Back to Nature This School Holidays

Budding jungle explorers can run wild this school holidays with the opening of Adelaide’s hottest new kids attraction at Adelaide Zoo, Nature’s Playground.

To kick off the school holidays, little monkeys can discover the nature inspired play equipment with climbing structures, water play features, a natural creek bed and aerial walkways that give a unique view of the Adelaide CBD and riverbank.

The new play space, which launched this week, is designed to create unstructured play for children of all abilities and forms a unique area within Adelaide Zoo where families can play and discover the gifts of nature.

Parents can take a break too and relax in the shade with a coffee and even better, access to Nature’s Playground is included in the price of entry to Adelaide Zoo.

Aspiring explorers can also discover how some of their favourite zoo animals have fun in the holidays with Animal Play, an activity trail available at both Adelaide and Monarto Zoos.

Visitors to Adelaide Zoo will catch a glimpse of the animals in holiday mode – our Squirrel Monkeys will be swinging around and being cheeky while our lemurs prefer to take it easy and lounge around in the summer sun.

Monarto Zoo visitors are in for a treat with lots of new baby animals including Enzi the Chimpanzee and our baby Southern White Rhinoceros Tundu getting ready to celebrate their very first Christmas.

There’s even more packed into both zoo’s fun-filled schedules over the school break to keep little and big people alike busy with free Meet the Keeper presentations and some great prizes up for grabs.

Adelaide Zoo’s new vacation care program, ZOOcation, is also in full swing, giving kids an opportunity to spend the day at the zoo visiting all their favourite animal friends.

And if you’re looking for a way for the kids to burn off some of the overload of festive season sugar-rush, don’t forget both Adelaide and Monarto Zoos are open 365 days a year including Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
