Mingle with the mischievous mob of meerkats

Get ready to be charmed by the inquisitive Meerkat mob in this fun and interactive experience – it’s meerkat mayhem! Join a dedicated keeper in the meerkats’ habitat and feel the weight of these adorable animals as they run over your lap in search of tasty mealworm treats.

Learn about the social behaviours of meerkats as you watch these cuties devour their breakfast – meerkat style.

Please note the minimum age for this experience is 8 years.

Highlights of this experience

  • Go behind the scenes with the Meerkat mob in their habitat
  • Have wriggly mealworms eaten off your lap
  • Feel the weight of these cuties as they run over your lap

Meerkats have the unique ability to close their ears to keep dirt out while they burrow into the ground.

Meerkats have outstanding vision and a dark band around their eyes, which acts as sunglasses, reducing any glare from the sun.

The patch of dark skin on a meerkat’s stomach acts as sort of a solar panel during the winter months to provide warmth on cool days.

How your ticket helps our conservation efforts

By purchasing a ticket to Meerkat Mingle, you are not only supporting the incredible species in our care, you’re also helping us raise awareness and valuable funds to safeguard their wild cousins. Part of the income generated from our Animal Experiences contributes to the work Zoos SA does in support of a wide number of conservation programs both within and beyond our gates.
